Funeral Planning

How to Plan a Funeral

Planning a funeral can be quite overwhelming. Whether you need to plan for a funeral that will take place immediately or you are preplanning for a funeral that will take place in the future, the planning process and decisions are quite similar. Our staff walks you through the whole process and will ensure no detail is missed.

Below we have provided a general funeral checklist:
  • Contact our funeral home when your loved one has passed away. Our staff can then remove the body from the place of death.
  • Review your loved one’s will. Accordingly choose either burial or cremation.
  • If you wish to hold a ceremony, you need to choose the type of ceremony – a traditional funeral, a memorial service, a celebration of life, etc.
  • Meet with one of our funeral directors so that we can discuss with you all of your options and how exactly we can help you out. Also we will help you fill out all the necessary paperwork.
  • Select the appropriate funeral products to help honor the deceased – a casket, tombstone, urn, flowers, prayer cards, register books, photos, candles, etc.
  •  Choose the music or hymns to be played during the ceremony
  • Decide what you want included in the obituary.
  • If your loved one was in the military, check if he/she is eligible to receive veteran death benefits.
  • Determine who you want to give the eulogy, say prayers, and other remarks during the ceremony.
  • You need to think of how you will pay for the funeral costs. Different financing options are available to you if you preplanning the funeral or if the funeral is to be in the immediate future.
  • Think about all the logistics and then let us know your wishes. We will take care of them all. We plan the when and where of the ceremony, the car service that will pick up your immediate family, and how your loved one will transported and cared for.
  • If you are interested, you can select a charity that will accept donations on behalf of your loved one.
  • Notify family and friends of when and where the ceremony will take place.
